6 months old-May 2011

Once again we had several big events this month to share with you.  Both Hannah and Owen have cut teeth now, were baptized (a seperate post), and spent a weekend away from home.

Teething...
Hannah and Owen are such good babies.  I knew they had been trying to get teeth for awhile and you saw in my post about 5 months that Hannah was the first to get a tooth.  This month both Hannah and Owen worked on cutting multiple teeth.  Other than a little tylenol and oragel and a lot of drool you'd never know from their disposition that they were teething.  Owen did wake up again at night after several weeks of sleeping through the night, but as soon as his first tooth came through he went right back to sleeping all night again.  Owen's first tooth came through on the bottom right hand side and 6 days later his second tooth came through right next to the first one for an adorable pair on the bottom.  Hannah's second tooth came in around the end of May and it joined her other one on the bottom.  After seeing how quickly Owen's second tooth followed the first I was surprised at how long it took Hannah to get her second one in.

I'll chew on anything!

Other milestones for this month...
Owen is up on his hands and knees rocking back and forth.  He gets the biggest grin on his face to show how proud he is of himself for figuring it out.  I know he will be crawling in no time.  He is also quite the man of leisure.  He is hysterical to watch as he rolls up onto his side and then props himself up on his elbow.  He hangs out this way for quite some time and often waves his hand and arm around in the air or chews on a toy.  I like to call it his side plank.  Also, this month Owen mastered sitting up unassisted without losing his balance.

First twin moment...
For the first time I noticed Hannah laughing at Owen.  I was supporting him on his legs in front of her as she sat in the bebe pod chair and making him jump up and down in the air.  Hannah was trying to "catch" his bib and thought it was so funny when he would jump, jump, jump!

A weekend away...
Hannah and Owen’s first trip away from home (other than hospital stays which don’t count!).  We spent the weekend in New Kent with Nana since Grandad, dad, and uncle Jake were at the race in Charlotte.  Sleeping in the pack and play was definitely an adjustment although we had it down by the 2nd night.  Wow, did we require a lot of stuff: bottles, formula (which mom didn’t pack enough of), sterilizer, bottle warmer, exersaucer, bouncy seat, bebe pod chair, 1 pack and play (Nana has a 2nd at her house), high chairs, food, bowls, spoons, clothes, diapers (28 for each), wipes, towels and washcloths, bibs, toiletries for 6 month olds (baby wash, powder, desitin, lotrimin, thermometer, Tylenol, oragel,), stroller, detergent and oxyclean stain stick.  Needless to say our car was loaded down…don’t know what we’re going to do when we try to go to the beach in August!
Solid Food:  Owen has a quite the appetite!  He chows down on his rice cereal and is now eating ¼ cup every night mixed with about 2 oz of formula.  He likes it thick.  He has also tried and loved carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, and peas.  Hannah also loves to eat, but always makes a sour face upon the first bite.  Hannah also eats ¼ cup rice cereal and she has also liked carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, and green beans.

This is the I'm not so sure face!

Scrub A Dub Dub...

Most of our bath pictures this month are of Hannah because Owen is wild when he takes a bath.  It has turned into a wrestling match and most of the time I feel like he won.  Owen has decided it's fun to try to roll over when taking a bath and push off the side of the sink with his feet.  We need a new solution for bathing him soon, but for now here are this month's bath pictures.

Hannah all wrapped up like a burrito.
Owen thinks getting out of the bath and being wrapped up is hilarious because the whole time he is trying to roll back and forth on our kitchen table.

Other pictures and moments from this month:

Hannah apparently got in a fight with her crib during nap time.
We're going out to short pump to enjoy the weather.  Our shades were a gift from Aunt Vic...they were pulled off by the time we backed down the driveway.  Maybe we'll try them again at the beach in August.

Chris is in charge of formula when he's home and this was his new way to mix it up, get the clumps out, and keep Hannah and Owen entertained.  As you can see they were amused with his antics as he tossed their bottle of formula in the air.  At this point we're going through 60-64 ounces of formula a day so we make it in big batches!
