Nana's Special Gift

So Mommy always gets these inspirations and ideas, but can't do anything about them with very little extra time and few sewing skills (although I once knew how to operate a sewing machine) and somehow Mommy always gets Grandma or Nana to lend a hand.  Well Mommy really got Nana hooked on the latest idea...a quiet book.  I happened to stumble across the idea on Pinterest one day and thought it was the greatest thing.  At first Nana said, "that looks very time consuming, I don't think so" but she couldn't get the idea out of her head either and decided she was in need of a special project.  Nana worked tirelessly on these special books and each new page brought new inspiration.  Hannah and Owen had no idea what Nana had been quietly working on, but Mommy was so excited for the day they finally received them.

Hannah's Quiet Book Pages:
Hannah can remove the letters that spell her name and practice putting them in the right order.
There are coins to take out of the purple wallet and place in the piggy bank.

I think this is my favorite page...build a sandcastle (and all the sandcastle pieces store inside the bucket).

Pick apples off the apple tree, put them in the basket, and snap them back on again.
The flowers can be buttoned and unbuttoned on this page.
This shows the completed books and the outside covers.

Owen's Quiet Book Pages:
Owen can practice spelling his name.
He can play a matching game.
 He can count and...
 ...match shapes too.
This is Owen's favorite page...he can take all the pieces off the dump truck and match them back up again.

The numbers 8 and 9 make a road with a bridge that connects them in between.  The little car is stored in the yellow pocket which Owen calls the garage.
Owen really likes this page too.  He likes to pretend that he is the mailman and deliver all the letters.  Yes, inside each envelop is a "letter" to take out.

Nana helps Hannah get started on the day she dropped off the books.
It didn't take long for her catch on.
Hannah jumps right into her book by matching the shapes.

Owen gets up close with his car page as matchbox and hot wheels cars are his new favorite thing.
Thanks, Nana!  I love my book!
Our books went to the beach and kept us quietly entertained for a good while each day.  Uncle Jake helps Owen build a sandcastle in Hannah's book.
