Happy Halloween

Hannah and Owen were dressed up as a lamb and a monkey for their 1st Halloween.  Their grandma bought the costumes this time last year-before they were even born.  When we pulled them out in early Fall we weren't sure whether they would be wearing them or not as they were size 12 months and Hannah and Owen now wear 12-18 month sized clothes, but I was hopeful.  I also wasn't sure they would wear them without having a meltdown as they currently pull off all bibs, hats, and socks/shoes when they can.  So I didn't go into the evening with high expectations...I just wanted a picture!  However, they proved me wrong and did great in their costumes.  Of course they looked adorable.  I loved the costumes after I got them on and yes, they did fit!  Hannah LOVED her costume.  She was snuggling up to it and feeling it while I was changing her clothes to get her dressed in the costume.  When I let her look in the bathroom mirror at herself she got a huge grin on her face-it was priceless!  Owen found Hannah's costume quite amusing.  I wish I had a picture of the big grin he got on his face and held there for minutes it seemed as he looked at Hannah in her costume.  We all laughed and laughed at his reaction to Hannah's costume.  It was as if he was thinking why in the world is she wearing that?!  She looks really silly!  Little did he know what was in store for him next...Owen's monkey costume was super cute!  My favorite part about it was the tail, but I wasn't able to get a good picture of it.  He wasn't as impressed with his costume as Hannah was with hers.

We sat outside on the front steps with Hannah and Owen to greet the trick or treaters and pass out candy.  We weren't sure what were going to do and didn't have much of a plan going into the evening, but I didn't want to take them around to houses since obviously they wouldn't be eating any of the candy so we settled on hanging out on our front steps to participate in the festivities of Halloween.  Both Hannah and Owen were toasty warm in their costumes and enjoyed being outside.  They were very curious about all the kids walking around and coming up to our house.  Of course our house is always a popular stop since I teach or have taught many of the neighborhood kids.  All the neighborhood kids enjoyed seeing Hannah and Owen dressed up as they often see us out on walks with them.  We were having a great time watching all the kids and visiting with neighbors until the rain moved in and we had to go inside.  Once inside Hannah and Owen quickly decided they wanted to ditch their costumes, but I was impressed that they kept them on for at least an hour!
 Our little lamb-isn't she cute?!
 Happy Halloween
Owen's costume was very fitting since I often call him my little monkey!
 Look at them!
 Adorable!
