18 Months Have Come and Gone

At 18 months old (almost 19) Hannah and Owen continue to grow like weeds.  I joke that we need to figure out how to slow them down or they will quickly have no clothing or diaper options!  At their 18 month checkup Owen weighed 31 lbs 10 oz and was 36 inches tall (thats 3 feet!).  Hannah weighed 29 lbs and 13 oz and she is 32.5 inches tall so she isn't far behind her "big" brother.  Due to their current height and weight we decided to turn their car seats around to forward facing this month.  They enjoy all the new sights and being able to interact with us more.  Owen likes to point out all the trucks that pass us by.

Owen loves to wear his sunglasses so he can be like his daddy.

Each day they do and say more and more.  Owen is gibber gabbering a lot and often strings several groups of sounds together which makes us stop in wonder at what he could possibly be trying to say.  He likes point to things and wants to know what the name for each thing is and we repeat the naming process over and over.  He has a few words down like mama, dada, and he loves to say bye and hi.  Also in his vocabulary is duck, truck, Nana, and he has his own version of yeah and back which he says as he puts things away (back back back).  His newest animal sound is whoo whoo for an owl.  He will run down the hall going bye bye and then come racing back and yell hi!  He is full of energy and can run fast!  He has also mastered climbing steps and doesn't like to climb them one at a time but likes to use both feet alternately like a big kid.  We recently put up a swing set outside and he has no trouble climbing the ladder to get to the top of the slide, he enjoys swinging like a big boy even though we just bought toddler swings, and playing in the fort under the slide with a door that he can open and close.  He also loves to push his bubble mower all around the yard.  Owen likes to do everything himself and is definitely Mr. Independent even if it means finding things out the hard way.  Don't try to help him when he has his own way already decided in his mind!  Owen has recently discovered it is fun to run and "hide".  He will get behind the chair in his room, behind the pottery barn kids chairs, and under his high chair when he knows you are looking for him.  He thinks he is hilarious most of the time and definitely keeps us laughing.

This picture definitely shows Owen's personality!  He always thinks he is so funny and tries to come up with new ways to amuse us each day.

Hannah is our chatterbox.  She is starting to repeat almost everything you say and her words are starting to become more clear.  The words we hear right now the most are baby and up which comes out as upie (which is adorably cute).  Hannah also runs all over and enjoys climbing steps.  She loves the slide and swings.  Every time we pull in the driveway she yells wide (for slide).  She still likes to pick flowers when we are outside and loves bubbles.  She is all about babies...it has developed into a full blown obsession.  She almost always has a babydoll in her arms and her baby usually eats every meal with her and sleeps with her for naps.  Her baby goes in the car and for walks too.  At first there was only one baby that she would gravitate to but now she has an appreciation for all of her babies.  She also likes pointing out real babies when we are out and pictures of babies on boxes.  One day we had to cut a baby off a cardboard box and give it her.  There are 2 month old twin boys down the street and we occasionally see and talk to the family.  One afternoon the mom was walking with them down the street and Hannah stood at the front door saying baby baby baby and then proceeded to cry when they went into their driveway and out of line of sight.  Hannah also makes us laugh each day!

Hannah has added sunglasses to her list of accesories needed before we leave the house.

Hannah loves to stick these flowers behind her ear.  She will run around playing outside and keep it there the whole time.  She likes to see herself in the mirror or the car window so she can admire how pretty it looks.
