Pumpkin Picking

Rainy weekends and lots of Fall things going on almost made us miss our trip to the pumpkin patch this year.  I was content to go to Pole Green Produce to pick out a few pumpkins, but on a whim last Sunday afternoon we decided to head to the "pumpkin patch".  We decided to try out a different pumpkin patch this year and we got some beautiful pumpkins and some cute pictures although it was a little different experience than we were expecting.  I think all the pumpkins actually grown there had been picked already and so they had brought pumpkins in.  They were beautifully round and big, but we I missed picking them off the vine.  Hannah and Owen didn't really know the difference though and they were so excited to see so many pumpkins laying around.  We wanted to choose them all, but narrowed it down to 5!  With a wheelbarrow full we loaded our pumpkins up and headed home to proudly display them on our steps.

 Like father like son.

 Pumpkins are heavy!

Ewww...check out the seeds and pumpkin guts!

On Monday night we decided to carve pumpkins since it seemed that it would be a busy week and Daddy would have a few late nights before Halloween.  Hannah and Owen were excited to carve their pumpkins and it was a pretty evening outside which made outside a great place to carve pumpkins.  Mommy though she had a great idea to carve a Daniel Tiger and Katarina Kitty pumpkin needless to say Daddy did all the carving, but Hannah and Owen did help scoop out the seeds and they checked on Daddy's progress several times.  On Halloween they put Mickey and Minnie on two of our other pumpkins.

 Dig in Owen!

They decided to take turns scooping.

Both took a break to play while Daddy did the carving.

Mommy didn't think it would be this complicated of a design daddy.
Oops...sorry!

Our Daniel Tiger pumpkin and our Katarina Kitty pumpkin...Hannah and Owen's excitement over these faces made the time it took worthwhile.
