Spending Time with Nana-Visiting Maymont Park

Over Memorial Day weekend we hung out with Nana and even spent 2 nights at her house while Daddy, Grandad, and Uncle Jake for their yearly boys weekend to the Nascar Race in Charlotte, NC.  The boys Charlotte weekend used to be a girls weekend for my mom and I, but now its turned into a Nana weekend.  This is the first time in a couple of years that I've been able to spend the night at her house due to the logistics of being away from home with 2 small children.

First on the weekend agenda was a trip to Maymont Park.  My mom so upbeatly said, "sure, lets try it."  Nana hadn't been there in a very long time and was anxious to try out her photography skills.  I hadn't taken Hannah and Owen in about a year or so and that was with Chris and no stroller.  We did have a great time and Hannah and Owen enjoyed it, but a couple of times I was thinking, "What was I thinking?!"  Pushing 80 lbs in a stroller up a hill was not easy!  At one point I felt as if I was practically laying on the path trying to get enough incline to keeping the stroller moving up hill.  A few times it took both my mom and myself pushing to to make it to the top.  Needless to say we were all worn out when we were finished many hours after I expected our trip to be over.  Oh, I also carried and walked with Owen up all the steps by the waterfall in order to find a bathroom for him to use!  I felt like I lost the 5 pounds I've been aiming to loose in that one day.

We started out by visiting the animals.  Hannah and Owen were intrigued and couldn't wait to feed them.  This is a big step from one of the first times we visited and the goats made Owen cry!

Hannah fell in love with the goats.  She took a particular fondness to one that she saw get pushed out of the way by another goat (Hannah thought it was its mother) attempting to get the food Hannah was holding.  She said several times that day, "did you see me rubbing that goat, I was trying to make him happy after he got pushed off the fence?".  It really bothered her to think that the goat's mother would push him away like that.  Sweet Girl!
Owen and Nana marvel at the eagles and owls.

After a visit in the nature center we took a break to relax and blow some bubbles.
Owen did more relaxing than bubble blowing.  These sweet pictures make my heart melt for my little guy!
