Beach Vacation No. 2

We were so excited about our second beach vacation where we returned to the same beach house as week one.  This time we were joined by Grandma and Papa and Aunt Sandy.  Uncle Troy, Aunt Vic, and Wesley were supposed to come along, but were too afraid that baby Hailey would make her arrival oceanside so they opted sadly to stay in Richmond and we sure did miss them.  Our first beach vacation of the summer wasn't easy as you know so we were thrilled to have a do-over and hoped to fit in some things that we didn't have time for in July.  Once again Hannah and Owen loved everything about being at the beach.  The first day was rainy and cloudy and it didn't stop them from playing and having fun.  We had pretty good weather for the rest of the week and saw a lot of beach time.  We did get Hannah her blow up pool this time, but both Hannah and Owen were more content to play with the 5 gallon bucket that Chris bought to use to fill up the pool.  One of the highlights of the week was buying and flying kites!  This was so fun for 2 three olds and I'd highly recommend it!  Hannah and Owen also enjoyed fishing with Papa, but poor Papa didn't catch one fish all week long!

An after dinner beach walk on our first day:
The beach was very interesting at the beginning of the week.  It was very shelly by the water and there was a large cliff of sand before you got to the ocean.  This cliff that was good for sand tunnels and jumping off of entertained Hannah and Owen easily for hours.

Day 2:

Day 3:
Hannah is totally my child as she complained of being chilly and needed to be wrapped in this towel.  We did have a couple of days with cooler temperatures.  We were happy not to be baking while on the beach.

Day 4:

Owen loudly sings a happy birthday to himself and blows out his "candle".  He had several people laughing on the beach at his antics.

Day 5:

After naps on day 5 we headed to Kitty Hawk Kites to pick out 1 or 2 kites.  We weren't sure what we wanted or what we were looking for although we did know that we didn't want a trick kite.  The first one that caught my attention turned out to be perfect for 3 year olds (the man at the store actually told us this without even seeing Hannah or Owen beside me).  Hannah picked out a tie dye rainbow kite and Owen picked out a pirate.  They were happy that these kites we cheap enough that they each got their own.  They loved flying their kites more than I even thought they would.  I think they liked that they could do it themselves.  They loved walking back and forth down the beach holding the kite string in their hands as if they were walking a dog.  A few times we had close calls as their kites nearly tangled together.
Owen is so excited to get the kite string handed over to him after Daddy gets it launched in the air.

Hannah loved running back and forth with her kite in her hand.

Day 6:
Hannah got to ride on daddy's boogie board and LOVED it!  She wanted to stay out in the water all day!
Owen liked it too, but Hannah is definitely the thrill seeker.  Owen is just as content playing in the sand.  He gets in the water mostly to cool off.

Donuts on the beach!  What could be better?!

Time for a little more kite flying.  I love this picture of 3 generations together staring up at the sky.
Who is this kid?!  He walked by and did a couple of silly surfer like poses that he thought were so funny!

At the end of the day Hannah and Owen went on a walk to look for seashells and they managed to find STARFISH!  (Ok, well you can probably guess where the starfish came from, but that is the one thing Owen said he wanted to find before we went the beach for vacation number 1).  They were so excited to find these!

Daddy has to have a talk on the beach with Hannah and Owen.  Hannah was running a little too close to the water for Owen's comfort and he was getting very anxious and upset as he does about her well being...well unless he's doing something to aggravate her.

Let's try one more time to catch a fish Papa...ok well we think it's just as fun to reel in the hook and toss it back out.  Maybe we'll catch a fish next year!
