All In a Day's Play

Hannah and Owen love love love to play!  They have become very imaginative with their play as well.  They love to cook in their kitchen and go grocery shopping.  Their favorite things to make are cookies (now Owen calls them cookwees), pizza, muffins, and pancakes.  We also eat a lot of ice cream around here from Owen's ice cream shop.  Hannah plays with her doll house several times a day as well as many other things.  Owen likes to pretend to be the pizza man delivering pizza to the doll house (but the pizza man is the farmer from the barn!).  We love to build with blocks and our Duplo's too.  Our ball poppers now double as weed eaters (Owen asks for a "mask" to wear before weed eating inside the house) and sometimes vacuum cleaners too.  They like to work on their ride on cars when they are broken and Owen will take out his tool bag and bang and hammer on the bottom to fix it.  They fill their cars with gas from our plastic pitchers.  Owen often forgets his keys when trying to go somewhere on his car (we joke that he is just like his Daddy!).

Owen does a little weed eating inside the house.  It is necessary to wear his hard hat and have Mommy put on his pretend mask (Daddy wears a mask when cutting grass).

As you know Owen and Hannah are both a bit obsessed with fire stations and fire trucks.  It continues to be their favorite past time to ride around and look for as many fire stations as possible.  They like to see if the garage doors are open or closed and if the fire trucks are inside or outside.

Owen loves his Duplo blocks and will sit by himself and put many of them together.  Here is one of his fire station creations.
Owen and Hannah have decided that Mommy's new lamp looks just like a fire pole (except it sounds more like a fire pool).  Both of them pretend to slide down the fire pole that is my lamp, but the idea originated with Owen.
On a rainy day in February (oh we had too many of those to count this year) we pulled out the cardboard building blocks that didn't make it under the Christmas tree.  They've enjoyed building houses and towers.  They get them stacked so tall that we have to pick them up to stack more blocks on top.

Yay, we work together!  This only happens sometimes as many days are full of lessons in how to share and play together right now.
Owen is very precise when playing and will tell you it's not right if you do it differently than he thinks it should be done.
 Peek a boo, Hannah!

Hide and seek also provide a lot of entertainment.  Owen does most of his hiding when he is trying to avoid a diaper change, getting dressed, putting pjs on, or taking a bath.  He thinks it's funny to hide under the table, but we think it's funny that he pulls all the chairs back in to help keep himself hidden!
Does anybody see me?
