Snow Day!!

Today we had our first official snow day with snow that actually amounted to something (although we were hoping for a lot more) but enough that the ground was covered.  Last week we woke up to snow on the ground but not on the road, but it melted by mid morning.  When Hannah and Owen saw last week's snow Owen immediately yelled, "Can we play in it?!!" to which I had to respond "no, it's not enough".  Hannah then said, "maybe God will give us some more."  Today her sweet innocent wish came true.  When Owen saw the snow this morning he said, "I better get my snow plow so I can plow the street!" which was adorable considering his snow plow is matchbox size.   Unfortunately the snow also brought frigid temperatures and windy conditions (seriously wind chills below zero this morning I think).  We managed to hold them off until about 10:15am when we bundled up in all our clothes and headed out to play!

All bundled up and toasty warm...ready to have some fun!

Yes, all these clothes were necessary as it was a warm 24 degrees (and don't forget about the wind).
This little grin says hmmm, at whom should I throw this snowball?!
Once again Owen is our little worker bee.  He grabbed the shovel and starting pushing it up the driveway.  He wanted to make a big pile of snow for his trucks.  He could get quite a scoop of snow on it, but had more trouble controlling the shovel to move the snow where he wanted it to be.  But still I was impressed!

Then Owen decided to take Mommy and then Daddy for a ride on the sled!

 Time for snow angels...

And a brother and sister snow ball fight...
this ended up being more like throwing snow at each other.  It was ended quickly when the concept of not throwing it in Hannah's face could not be understood.

One last ride on the sled before heading in for lunch and naps.
Two by Two they come up the driveway to head inside and warm up.
