A Sweet Gingerbread House

A day or so before Christmas we were at Food Lion and Daddy spotted a Gingerbread House kit on sale.  He decided that it needed to come home with us because he wanted to make it with Hannah and Owen.  Everyone was excited to take on this project.  The kit was opened on Christmas Eve as we tried to pass the time before heading to Nana and Grandad's for Christmas.  The act of putting the gingerbread house together and decorating it with candy was a true test of patience and self control for all involved!  Lots of candy was eaten and Daddy began to worry the house wouldn't get decorated with what was left.  We had to take a break once or twice to regroup and find better listening skills.  But they saw the project through and were so proud of their creation!

How do I put these walls together?

Mmmm! A taste of the icing that Daddy and Owen called mortar and concrete.

Owen carefully puts candy in the icing on the edges of the house.
 I can eat these right?!

Daddy lays icing to make a pebbled path before Hannah and Owen sprinkled Nerds on the path for a sidewalk.

Our finished house!
