Sometime before Christmas Owen requested to make gingerbread cookies. They had spent a week or so at preschool doing activities with a gingerbread boy theme and he really wanted to make his own gingerbread cookies. Nana and I decided we would focus on gingerbread cookies for Owen this year for our annual cookie baking day. Things in December were so busy that it ended up being Christmas Eve before we could carve out enough time to bake cookies together. It worked perfectly though to pass the day and get us all in the Christmas spirit. I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas Eve than to hang out with family and share in completing a special activity (and one that has become tradition) together. Our cookies turned out great and tasted great too. We were a little disappointed with the icing...maybe we'll perfect that next year or maybe our expectations we just a little too high.
