Lights and Doughnuts...A Christmas Tradition

A few days before Christmas we loaded up in the Pilot once more to go out and enjoy other people's tacky light displays.  Hannah and Owen were really into lights again this year and enjoyed seeing all the colorful displays and recognizing all the Christmas and TV characters.  As usual Nana, Grandad, and Uncle Jake joined us.  It was quite a car load!  This year I printed scavenger hunts for Hannah and Owen that I found online.  They really enjoyed hunting for each object.  It helped keep them into each light display and they even searched as we drove from one tacky house to another.  They loved it so much that when they finished 1 punch card they wanted another.  They were really cute sitting in their seats holding their cards and their hole punch.  They love using a hole punch by themselves.  We use punch cards for rewards in our house all the time.  Nana even had a flashlight that she gave to Hannah so she could see what was next on the list to find.  Uncle Jake used his flashlight app to help Owen out with his scavenger hunt.  It was funny to see how systematic they wanted to be in completing their punch card.  It took a lot of explaining about how they could start anywhere on the card and punch in any order.  :o)  After looking at lights we got to the tastiest part of the evening...hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts!  We went inside this year and Hannah and Owen enjoyed seeing the doughnuts being made before their eyes.  They were excited about the Krispy Kreme hats too!  They ended up picking doughnuts out of the case because the snowman one and the one with sprinkles were too enticing to pass up!
