Double Duty

Keeping two babies happy and content can sometimes be a challenge especially in the early months.  We are so blessed that Hannah and Owen are easy and happy babies.  I can't imagine having two and dealing with colic or something that would leave them fussing all the time.  My strategy of peace keeping was to always stay ahead of the game with them and to think about and anticipate things before they happened (I guess I can thank being a teacher for this).  I usually tried to feed each one a few minutes before they were due to eat in order to have special time with them individually.  I was not a big fan of double feeding in the beginning unless there was someone else to help hold and feed one of them.  Therefore, I tried to keep them 30 minutes apart with their feedings in order to be able to cuddle with each one and give them their bottles individually.  However, there were plenty of times where they both demanded to be fed at once and so I would break out the bouncy seats, strap them in, and put the bottles in.  They would get passies in between while I would take each one out to burp before resuming the feeding.

Hannah and Owen rarely got cranked up fussing at the same time, but when they did we sometimes had to hold and distract both of them at the same time.  This is much easier to do now, but was a little tricky in the beginning when they didn't have such good control over their bodies.  Chris was the best at being able to get them both scooped up at the same time.  Here are some of my favorite double duty pictures from the first few months.
