5th Annual Mechanicsville Miler

Tis the season for the MES Miler at Mommy's school.  Once again Mommy was in charge in of food setup and was on the Miler committee which involved several after school meetings, phone calls, and finally food pickup and set up the weekend of the event.  Hannah and Owen helped me pick up the food and then hung out at school while I set the food tables up (thanks guys for being such good helpers).  This year Hannah and Owen were excited to participate in the race too.  They ran the 100 yard dash in addition to riding in their stroller for the 3 mile event.  They won ribbons for participating which thrilled them!  When Hannah finished the 100 yard dash she said, "I want to do that again Mommy!".

Just waiting to hear; Ready, Set, GO!
Nana and Grandad joined us at the event.
Owen holds onto the ribbon he got for participating in the 3 mile event.
Owen's day was made complete in the 1st 30 minutes because he saw a fire truck, ambulance, trash truck, and lots of police cars!  The fire truck, ambulance, and police cars showed up to help us with the event.  Owen and Hannah enjoyed waving to the police officers who blocked roads to keep us safe.

We love mascots and larger than life characters.  Hannah and Owen made a best friend of this guy!

Owen joins the big kids on this climbing structure.

Ready, Set, GO!  Hannah and Owen are off!  I ran next to Hannah, but Owen left us in the dust and ran out on his own and never looked back.  Both of them ran the entire 100 yards without stopping!  Way to go Munchkins!

Hannah and Owen were proud of their ribbons.
The giant box of doughnuts that I picked up for the table the morning of the race disappeared fast.  Hannah and Owen had had their sights set on one so after the event we took Nana and Grandad to our favorite bakery to buy some doughnuts to take home.  It was a cold and rainy end to the morning so doughnuts and coffee were perfect!
