On November 23rd Hannah and Owen were scheduled for their 1 year check up. Wouldn't you that a couple of days before they both came down with their first cold so what was supposed to be their check-up turned into a partial sick visit. Both had a slight temperature, but their ears and chests were clear so it was determined to be just a viral infection, but because of their elevated temperatures they left without their 1 year old immunizations and we have to go back for those. Hannah and Owen have definitely figured out what the doctor's office is all about because as soon as we sat them on the table to get undressed they started to cry. Here are their latest measurements:
Owen
Weight: 28 lbs
Length: 30 inches (but he has to be closer to 31 because he is definitely taller than Hannah as he already reaches the door knobs and she can't)
Head Circumference: 46
He is in the 90%-95% percentile for both, but he is well proportioned for his size Dr. LaRosa told us. His growth chart is beautiful she said. I can't believe how just a year ago we were so worried about their weight loss and now Owen looks much older than 1 because of his size. He is in between clothing sizes, but quickly growing out of 12-18 months and is able to wear 18-24 months.
Hannah
Weight: 25 lbs 12 oz
Length: 30.5 inches
Head Circumference: 46
Hannah is also in the 90%-95% percentile for height and weight. She has really grown a lot this year and made great gains on her growth chart. She is also well proportioned for her size. She is also growing out of 12-18 month clothes, but the pants in 18-24 months are a bit too long for her.
As usual Dr. LaRosa was surprised by how strong Hannah and Owen are. A couple of times they were able to push away from her while being examined. We talked about how Hannah has become somewhat of a picky eater and she assured us she would fine. We talked about how Owen communicates well but doesn't make many definite sounds. She assured us that since he is able to follow commands and make associations that he is doing just fine and that one twin is usually more dominant with language. The funny thing though is that when we got home that night Owen sporadically decided to start making the b and s sound as he was playing in the living room. It was as if he overhead and understand our conversation at the doctor's office. A few days later he was "walking" down the hall going da da da da. Chris and I just looked at each other and grinned. I guess he figured he'd show us and put our concerns to rest!
