On Saturday, December 10th, we took Hannah and Owen to Nelm's Photographic Artistry in Chesterfield to see Santa for the first time. Of course Santa came to our house last year on Christmas Eve, but we thought Hannah and Owen were too tiny to get a picture taken with the jolly man. I was so excited when I found out that Carla, from Nelm's, was having a Santa party. The email invited us to come and visit with Santa in a stress free no lines environment in her portrait studio. Children got time to visit with Santa and received a gift from him when leaving. It sounded like a great idea to me so on a whim we decided to join in the fun of the Santa party at Nelm's. I had originally decided on seeing the Legendary Santa at the Children's Museum, but changed my mind with the Santa party invitation. Carla's Santa party was great! There was only one other family there when we arrived. We made our plan for capturing Hannah and Owen's first visit on Santa's knee. As Carla, the photographer, advised we very calmly moved toward Santa to set them down and we were to back away quickly so the moment could be captured...well, Owen's pant leg had barely touched Santa's red suit when he errupted in tears and sobs at which point Hannah also decided the man in the red suit with the fluffy white beard was not someone she cared to be around. I must admit I fully expected and thought this would happen as Hannah and Owen are very observant about who is around them and they don't take to strangers very easily. So we picked them up to regroup and finally decided on a family picture with Santa which was the very reason I advised Chris to wear something that looked nice for the day's outing. I think it turned out pretty cute! It was fun to dress Hannah and Owen up in their Christmas outfits and Santa was perfect.
