The Things We Say

Hannah and Owen say some of the funniest things these days.  I've been meaning to write this post for awhile so I hope I don't leave anything out.  They are starting to carry on more conversations with each other which can be very comical at times.  It surprises me how well Hannah understands what Owen says because his speech is not quite as clear as her's.  I guess it's a twin thing.  We call Hannah our little reporter because she comments on everything!  She tells us what she is doing, what we are doing, and what Owen is doing.  Owen is very curious and inquisitive.  He asks lots of questions all day long.

Nana brought Hannah and Owen aprons from her trip to Portugal, Spain, and France.
This picture was too cute not to include!

Eating dinner one night:

Hannah:  "Gilbert!" (the cat from the show Caillou)
Mommy:  "Where's Gilbert?"
Hannah:  "Gilbert's hiding under the table!  Meow, Meow!"

Now when we "see" Gilbert under the table they say, "Gilbert get out from under the table. Go back to Caillou's house!"

Hannah also likes to proclaim, "Yum! That's my favorite!" when eating something she enjoys.  People always get a kick out of her at Sweet Frog because she loudly says over and over "Yum!" and "Yummy!".

One night we were getting ready to eat dinner and Hannah and Owen usually hold hands when we say the blessing.  During our rounds of Norovirus and flu we had discouraged them from holding hands hoping Owen would not get sick (it didn't work by the way).  So Owen was asking for Hannah's hand and she looked at him and said, "You can't hold my hand.  I got germs!"

Playing one day:

Chris and I were playing in their room with Owen and Hannah was in the living room playing with her baby dolls.  Hannah comes running back to their room and says, "Hey!  I heard something!".  Then she went to the window and looked out saying, "let me see what it is" and responded, "I don't see anything."  She ran back down the hall to play only to run back again a minute or so later saying, "Hey!  I heard something!".  This time when she looked out the window she said, "just an old truck!" which it was and then she went back to playing.  The third time she ran down the hall claiming that she heard something she said, "it sounded like BOOM!".  She said this a few more times and then proclaimed it was a storm.  A few minutes later she brought her baby Stella back to the room and said, "baby Stella is scared.  She is scared of the storm."

One night while playing restaurant Hannah jumped up and said, "be right back!  Don't start out me!"  Chris and I laughed out loud.

Hannah still likes to admire the flowers and bushes when we are outside.  She is still all about textures and likes to see how things feel.  When we come inside she likes to stop by the bush at our side entrance.  She always touches the leaves and then proclaims, "Ouch!  That's prickly!".
While "talking" on the phone:

Mommy overhead a phone conversation of Hannah's where she said, "No, no not a problem.  Alright, bye!"

On the way home one evening:

Owen used to fight going in his car seat and now when in the car he always tells us he doesn't want to go home yet!  One evening on the way home from a birthday party Owen said, "Owo not ready go home yet!" to which Hannah responded, "Oh, honey, we got go home now."  Owen responded with, "no, Owo not want go home now!"  Hannah's response was, "Oh honey, we got go home now eat some dinner."  Then Owen decided that dinner "smelled awfully good".

Owen's famous words:

Owen's favorite word tends to be no.  We joke that he always says the opposite of what he really means and that he has yes and no mixed up.  He loves to tell Hannah "NO!" to ruffle her feathers and usually if he says it enough or with the right tone of voice he will make her cry.

Hannah talks more than Owen around the house, but Owen out talks her in the car every time we go somewhere.  He likes to identify all the trucks and tractors and then his famous words are, "What ____ doing?"  Owen's other favorite question is, "What that noise?"

When Owen is the first to wake up he likes to get everybody's day started by yelling in his loudest voice, "OWO READY TO GET UP NOW!".  He makes a great alarm clock!
